Sasha and Theo Spielberg’s band, Wardell, is the latest in a long line of sibling groups, like Arcade Fire and the Breeders, populating the indie landscape. Formed about four years ago, the Los Angeles–raised sister and brother have worked earnestly to define their sound—with Sasha on vocals, and Theo on guitar. Now, following up their 2015 album, Love/Idleness, Wardell debuts the new single “Deeper Underwater.”

In celebration of the release, the duo partnered with director-cinematographer Steven Sebring to create an experimental music video debuting exclusively on vanityfair.com. Sebring created the clip with a “unique method of recording dimension light and movement” that he calls the “fourth dimension.”

"This song materialized over a long weekend,” Theo told VF.com this week. “Recorded on Friday and mixed on Monday—one of those heavy, long weekends where you don’t go out of town and spend four days thinking about what you’ve done or could have done or what you could do to slow down time.”
